Another resolution was to stay away from posting about hot button* topics

But really, SOMEONE must speak!

I contend that the term "baby bump" is the nastiest expression of the 21st century. I don't remember hearing it much before 2002-- please, if I'm wrong, somebody correct me.

I thought this ickified term was relegated mostly to one gossip rag or another, but no! there's a whole site devoted to bump pictures (which welcomes its readers with "you're expecting!").

Maybe it's the association with invasion of privacy; Us Weekly declares "bump watch" on a new starlet every week. But what I think really irks me is that "baby bump" is the type of word used by people who can't handle using grownup words- "he put his hoohoo in her haha and now she has a baby bump!" Snore.

Do you have a relatively new phrase that bugs you?

*and by "hot button" I mean I'm kidding. I just couldn't think of anything else that really annoyed me today.
